2011-4-28：昨日，加拿大一名警员和一名管理员在Winnipeg市一座学校乘坐电梯时，电梯突然发生跌落，导致两人受伤。
　　发生事故的学校叫做“地球之子”高中。两名伤者已被担架抬出，并被送往医院。
　　事发时，两人正在电梯里移动一座书柜，然后电梯突然从二层坠落至一层。
　　“地球之子”高中校长Lorne Belmore说：“电梯坠落前已经开始移动，之后有一声巨响，电梯又动了一点，然后坠落至一层。”
　　在附近的人们听到电梯内两人求救，立即报了警，救援人员赶到后将俩人救出。
　　校方表示事故电梯在一年前接受过检查，但检查具体日期不清楚。之前，他们没有注意到这部电梯的问题。
　　现在两名伤者情况稳定。
　　校长表示事故电梯之前一阵子都没有学生乘坐，它主要是运货用的。
　　目前，事故正在接受电梯检查员和“工作场所健康安全检查组”的调查。

　　A police resource officer and a custodian were injured after an elevator suddenly plunged about 10 feet at a school in Winnipeg.
　　It happened at the Children of the Earth High School on Salter Street Wednesday afternoon.
　　The two men were taken to hospital on stretchers.
　　Both men were moving a book case in the elevator when it dropped from the second floor, landing on the concrete first floor.
　　"Apparently, the elevator had already started moving. (Then) there was a bang. It moved a little more and then it just dropped from that point on to the bottom," said Lorne Belmore, the school's principal.
　　Nearby staff heard screaming and called 911. Emergency crews arrived swiftly.
　　The school said the elevator is checked once a year. Officials weren't sure when the last time it was checked, but said they weren't made aware of any concerns.
　　Counselors are helping staff and students cope following the incident.
　　Police said both men are in stable condition.
　　The school's principal said the elevator wasn't currently being used by students and was only accessed to move freight.
　　A provincial elevator inspector and Workplace Safety and Health are now investigating.
