　　Progress continues on the construction of the Lakeland Co-op grain elevator just south of Cameron. Elevator manager Matt Schofield said construction on the project began in mid-May and should be completed by Oct. 1. The grain elevator sits on 20 acres of land and will be capable of receiving 15,000 bushels of corn per hour and drying 4,500 bushels per hour. The elevator could also handle soybeans in the future, according to Schofield, who said the cooperative chose the Cameron location to better serve the area between Rice Lake and Chetek. The elevator sits just east of the railroad tracks running between Cameron and Rice Lake, and the elevator could take advantage of that rail service sometime in the future, Schofield said.
