National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII®) Announces New Codes & Safety Director
SALEM, N.Y. (March 18, 2015) - Today the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) announced the appointment of Kevin Brinkman to the position of Codes & Safety Director. Brinkman, president of consulting firm Kevin L. Brinkman & Associates, LLC, will assume the new role on April 1, 2015, and will report directly to the NEII Board of Directors. Former director Brian D. Black now serves as NEII's Codes & Safety Analyst.
"Kevin's extensive engineering background and thorough knowledge of the model codes and standards makes him a valuable addition to the NEII team," says Rich Hussey, NEII president. "I'm confident he'll be a driving force for advancement in codes and building transportation safety."
Brinkman brings NEII more than 30 years of experience in the building transportation industry, specializing in accessibility. As president of Kevin L. Brinkman & Associates, LLC, Brinkman currently provides independent consulting services to the industry for product code compliance, engineering reviews, product design and site evaluations. He also serves on various codes and standards committees.
"I'm thrilled for the opportunity to take a leadership role within NEII contributing to building transportation code development from the front lines," says Brinkman. "I've long admired the work the organization does to provide education on industry codes and safety standards, and look forward to helping NEII realize its strong vision of safety and innovation nationwide."
Prior to forming his consultancy, Brinkman served as the vice president, engineering and quality, for ThyssenKrupp Access Manufacturing, LLC, where he was responsible for overseeing product development and compliance with all applicable safety codes and standards. Brinkman also has eclectic and extensive experience including high-level positions in engineering, operations and sales. Additionally, Brinkman has chaired the ASME Standards Committee and the ASME A17.1 Private Residence Elevator Committee, and served on various model code and accessibility committees.
Brinkman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and currently resides in Eureka, IL.
