据《旧金山纪事报》在内的多家媒体报道，近日，美国旧金山湾区交通系统委员会投票决定在捷运系统内把电梯服务人员数量增加到原来的一倍。此前，电梯服务人员已经在市中心区站和鲍威尔大街站试点并取得成功。此举将在今年秋天广泛推行，电梯服务人员将被派往蒙哥马利站和外码头站，以减少电梯内吸食毒品或者便溺的行为。一位搭乘电梯的行人称起点站的电梯“再也不会闻起来像厕所”了。此举由旧金山湾区交通系统和城市学院（Urban Academy）的合作推行，可帮助湾区内有刑事或民事前科的人员再就业。

　　Bart Board Votes to Double Number of Elevator Attendants

　　San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) board voted to double the number of stations with elevator attendants after the success of the pilot program at the Civic Center and Powell Street stations, SFGATE is among news outlets to report. Starting this fall, attendants will be stationed at the Montgomery and Embarcadero stations, as well, in an effort to curtail drug use and elevators being used as restrooms. One elevator rider said elevators at the initial stations “no longer smell like an outhouse.” The initiative is a partnership of BART and Urban Academy, which helps find employment for ex-convicts and at-risk residents in the Bay Area.
