加拿大Portage友谊中心（Portage la Prairie市）准备为他们行动不便的顾客安装电梯。
　　友谊中心总经理Stuart Alcorn称中心大楼后部在去年发生过一起火灾，正在接受维修。
　　友谊中心准备接受改造，包括楼体维修和安装一台残疾人电梯。
　　Alcorn说：“我们现在等着电梯被运送过来，电梯会在一个月内安好。”
　　电梯安装不会太大的改变大楼的布局，也不会影响大楼的防火性能。

　　关于Portage友谊中心：
　　Portage友谊中心成立于1966年，起初叫做“印第安人/混血友谊中心”。1970年，中心改为现在的名称，如今，友谊中心为当地的原住民和附近的居民提供公共服务。中心一直在努力满足当地人们的需求。Portage友谊中心每年举行很多社会活动，比如：原住民庆祝日，夏令营，为老人举办的感恩节和圣诞节，万圣节和圣诞舞会。

Friendship Centre to get disabled elevator

　　The Portage Friendship Centre is awaiting shipment of an elevator for its disabled patrons.
　　Stuart Alcorn, executive director of the Friendship Centre, said after a delay getting started repairs are coming along nicely after a fire ripped through the back of the building late last year.
　　The centre is undergoing some other renovations, in addition to the repairs and the only thing that's holding those up from being completed is the delivery of the centre's new disabled elevator.
　　"We have to wait for the delivery of the elevator and it's basically the only thing holding us up now and then we'll be finished off in approximately a month," Alcorn said Wednesday.
　　The layout of the building will be slightly altered because of the addition of the elevator, the executive director said, but it will mostly be the same as it was prior to the fire.
　　The Friendship Centre began its operation in 1966; it was originally called the Indian & Metis Friendship Centre.
　　In 1970, the Centre was incorporated as the Portage Friendship Centre, governed by a constitution, by-laws, and a Board of Directors. Today the Portage Friendship Centre strives to provide timely and necessary services to the Aboriginal population in Portage la Prairie and surrounding communities.  We are constantly on a look out for better ways to serve the public and provide a setting where all people feel welcome. 
　　We have annual events such as; Aboriginal Day Celebrations, School supply drives, Summer day camps, Elders Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, Children’s Halloween and Christmas parties.  The Centre also participates in community events like Winterfest at Island Park just one example.
