　　Approximately 75%, or 32, of the 43 fatal elevator accidents in Europe over the past three years occurred in Turkey, BGN News quotes a national official as saying. Director of the Elevator Control Center of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects Berkay Eriş, who revealed the statistic, said Turkey has less than 1/10th of Europe's elevators -- 400,000 out of 5.5 million. He said progress has been made since an elevator-inspection program began in 2012, when the number of "red-flagged" elevators was between 75-80%. Today, that has dropped to 50-60%.
